Artist of the Month : Andy Wu

It is with great pleasure that we introduce our Artist of the Month for January 2024. This initiative aims to recognise and applaud the exceptional artistic abilities of our students, fostering a spirit of creativity and expression within our vibrant school community.

This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Andy Wu, a visionary artist whose sheer talent and passion is clearly evident within every one of his pieces.

He has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill to master realism within his artwork, capturing emotion, fine detail and natural movement with a photographic quality.

Here’s a glimpse into Andy’s artistic philosophy in his own words:

“When I was very young, I liked to draw on the walls of my house, so my parents sent me to a painting class. Since then, I have been painting and my passion has not faded. I don’t think I have high talent, but it is developed through continuous practice and accumulated experience. For several periods of time, I stayed in the studio all day for two to three weeks in a row, so I think it’s inevitable for me to draw well now.

My work is what my ‘eyes’ can see. If my thoughts would appear in a three-dimensional form before my eyes, then this painting would be what I can see. I like to make my work very realistic, with many details, which is what I have been dedicated to since I started painting.

From now on, I want to create my own works that come from the depths of my heart and can shock and equally be appreciated by people.

It’s vital to bear in mind that there’ll be problems along the way, but don’t give up. If you’re really interested in art – it’s definitely worth it.”
