From William Shakespeare to Adrian Mole – Diversifying Language and Performance is an Art at St Joseph’s College

LAMDA is offered to all students at St Joseph’s College from Year 3 upwards. No matter what direction a child may choose to follow in the future, LAMDA provides opportunities to nurture their natural abilities. The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies. Since the 1880s LAMDA has developed its prized reputation for delivering excellence in the provision of Communication and Performance examinations. Not only do children expand their vocabulary to improve powers of self-expression, but their ability to read fluently and with confidence has a positive impact upon their powers to articulate constructively. The examinations are rooted in encouraging children to develop a love of literature, poetry and drama; and since it was introduced at the College in 2012 our students have enjoyed continued success and accolades for their performances.

Trinity’s ATCL diploma qualifications in performance encourage students to be

multi-skilled, reflective performers showing professional potential.  The Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) is equivalent in performance standard to the first year of an undergraduate degree and enables those who achieve at this level to use the letters ATCL after their name, denoting the exceptionally high level they have achieved. At this level students can choose to follow the Speech and Drama, Public Speaking or Musical Theatre syllabus to create a Performance, which is thematically linked to showcase six pieces to be presented to an exceptionally high standard, plus theory through a viva voce. The prerequisite for ATCL is to achieve a Grade 8 examination.

If you would like to learn more about the amazingly rich opportunities your child could enjoy through being part of the extraordinary LAMDA community please contact the College at [email protected] .
