Anita Honeyball is a Ceramics and Fused Glass artist who has been running her own art business called Honeypie Handmade for the past 20 years, right here in Ipswich!
Having completed her BA (HONS) Degree in Ceramics and Glass at Buckinghamshire University, Anita worked for a London Based Glass blowers before jetting off to Denmark and New Zealand to travel and work for other glass artists. On her travels she learned many new techniques and used these and the journey she went on as inspiration for her own work.
Today Anita works full time from her garden studio offering classes, making products to sell on on-line, in exhibitions and at art fairs.
On her ceramics camp we will be exploring ‘Sgraffito’ a decorative technique where a design is created by scratching through layers of contrasting coloured slip or underglaze to reveal the clay body underneath, resulting in bold, graphic, high-contrast imagery with texture. We will also be exploring another method called mono-printing onto the clay surface.
All students work will be returned back to them roughly 2/3 weeks after the camp once their pieces have been twice fired in the kiln. Once for the bisque fire and second for the glaze fire.
Please feel free to bring along any ideas or imagery that you might like to work with. We will also have plenty of examples to help in inspire on the day. If you’re working towards exams we can link your work into this process for your portfolio.
