The fan base of St Joseph’s artist Andy Wu continues to grow and now includes international superstar Ed Sheeran.
The singer, due to perform a series of concerts at Portman Road, the home of his beloved Ipswich Town FC, was introduced to Andy’s work by former St Joseph’s College student Will Stace, Media and Content Executive at ITFC.
Ed generously endorsed the portrait of himself created by Andy and added his signature to the work. It was a gesture similarly performed by Town manager Kieran McKenna last year. Kieran also signed a portrait of himself drawn by Andy.
That work, which generated press interest, was recently sold for charity thanks to Andy’s own generosity. What will become of the Ed Sheeran portrait, Andy has yet to decide.
Andy, a boarder at St Joseph’s College, is now in the Lower Sixth form. His family home is in Beijing. His talent is widely recognised in the school and beyond. An Art Scholar at St Jo’s, he is also studying Mathematics and Photography. Unsurprisingly, he intends to progress to an art school in the future.
Andy was recently one of the three finalists in the Boarding Schools’ Association artist of the year competition.
