The opportunity to dive into sport, whether inside or outdoors, is embraced by every child at St Joseph’s with amazing enthusiasm. Sport is a vital part of the holistic education at Saint Joseph's College Prep School, offering challenges and leadership opportunities to all of our pupils as well as providing the foundation for a healthy, active life.
From Nursery to Year 6, children are taught by specialist sports teachers and develop their skills in both team and individual games.
Children are encouraged to reach the highest level they can – representing their house, school, club, county, region or country. There is a packed, inclusive fixture list for all children, from Year 2 to Year 6.
Beyond the major team sports, pupils participate in a wide range of individual sports. All girls and boys in the Prep School have the opportunity to represent St Joseph’s College with commitment and, of course, a sense of fair play.
In the Prep School, girls play netball, hockey and cricket; boys play rugby, football and cricket. All children take part in table tennis and badminton, gymnastics and dance, cross country running, orienteering and athletics. Our PE lessons develop children's personal, social, cognitive, creative and physical skills to support all areas of their school life.
