We like to think that we prepare our students for life, not just for exams or for university.
Which is why we are very proud of our Old Birkfeldians, the school’s alumni, who provide, of course, the best example of what a St Joseph’s education produces and the best advertisement for our school.
In recent years St Joseph’s students have gone on to have highly successful careers in business, industry, politics, show business, the arts, sport, medicine, the armed forces…the list is long. We like to keep in touch with our alumni, inviting them back into the school community to inspire and guide current students as they start to consider their own futures.
We also want to help our past students to maintain the naturally strong bonds that each cohort makes during their time at St Joseph’s.
This is why we have appointed a dedicated Alumni Co-ordinator, Jo Davey, to help keep our past students connected with the school and with each other, through special events, newsletters and through social media channels such as Facebook.
Our latest 'Old Birkfeldian' newsletter can be found here.
I am an Old Birkfeldian myself, having been a student at the College for nine years. Many of my family have been educated at St Joseph's and as a family we support the school at every opportunity. I immersed myself in the ethos of the College as a student, and I am now totally passionate about continuing to serve St Joseph's in my role as Old Birkfeldian Alumni Coordinator.
St Joseph's College aims to develop and strengthen the Old Birkfeldian community, building on current ties with alumni, re-establishing links where they have faltered and breathing new life into its pledge that membership of the St Joseph's family is membership for life. We run a calendar of events appealing to and involving as many former students as possible.
As a former pupil myself, I know how much I got from my time at St Jo's and being able to give back to the College by serving the St Joseph's community once more is a privilege I take very seriously.
I am very excited about my role in the College, bringing together the old and the new, so that St Joseph's College can continue to strengthen its foundations and develop a very warm and diverse relationship between pupils past and present.
