Curriculum

Strong academic achievement is the ambition for every student at St Joseph's College

St Joseph’s College accepts boarders from 10-18 years and provides a broad and engaging curriculum.  Alongside traditional academic subjects such as English, Maths and Science, we offer opportunities for high achievement in technology, business, the Arts and sport.

School Years 7 -8 (Age 11-13 years)

Students study a broad and balanced curriculum, developing their knowledge, language and learning skills.

School Years 9-11 (Age 13-16 years)

Students study for GCSE examinations, usually taking ten from the following subjects: English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Religious Education, Physical Education, French, Spanish, History, Business, Technology, Computing, Food Technology, Music, Art, Drama and Photography.

School Years 11-13 (Age 16-18 years)

As students mature they can specialise and study to higher levels on a range of course types, all of which prepare them for university.  St Joseph’s College offers:

  • Pre A-level in GCSE Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Business and English Language.
  • A-level in English Literature, Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Technology, French, Spanish, Geography, History, Business Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Art, Music, Drama and Photography
  • BTEC in single or triple Sport & Fitness and Business
  • English language tuition, preparing students for the IELTS examination.
