Summer School Coaches
At St Joseph’s College, we invest in high-calibre coaching, top facilities and individual attention, offering young athletes the opportunity to train in our specialist Summer School programmes: Ipswich Town Foundation Football Summer School and the Rugby Summer School.
Coaching is personal, development is individual and support is constant. Our approach is focused, supportive and ambitious, combining high-performance sport with holistic development.

Rugby

Director of Rugby
Rowland Winter
Rowland has over 20 years of experience coaching across professional clubs, national games and schools. He has guided teams to league titles and cup finals, worked with England U20 players, and developed academy talent at Northampton Saints. Since 2022, Rowland had been building on the legacy of excellence in rugby at St Joseph’s College by developing individual potential, building confidence and a lifelong love of the game.

Rugby Development Coach
Josh Sharp
Josh is a former Northampton Saints Academy coach with extensive experience developing young talent. He brings professional insight and passion to every player and is currently Academy & Pathway Manager at Cambridge Rugby Club.

Rugby Professional
Mike Haywood
Mike, a former Northampton Saints hooker, has over 150 Premiership appearances. He is committed to developing skills, game understanding and leadership in young athletes through his professional-level coaching without the pressure of scale.
Football

Director of Football
Cole Skuse
Cole brings over 600 professional appearances from Colchester United, Bristol City and Ipswich Town. At St Joseph’s College, he helps young footballers develop their skills in a focused, personal and supportive environment. Cole is committed to high-quality coaching, individual attention, and nurturing every athlete’s potential, ensuring each student is seen, supported and inspired to reach their goals.

Head of Academic PE
Ian Kershaw
Ian delivers fun, high-quality coaching that builds skills, confidence and game awareness. He focuses on strength, speed, agility, coordination and mobility, using realistic game situations to prepare players for the demands of football and to support holistic development.

Football Coach
Louis Henman-Mason
Louis has extensive experience developing young players, having led football programmes across schools and clubs, including Ipswich Town FC and Dereham Town FC. He creates a positive, challenging, and supportive environment where students benefit from holistic development and personal attention.

When a family joins the College community a door is opened to a new and wide network of friends, families and contacts. Members of the St Joseph’s community are present at the many events throughout the academic year, and many stay in touch through forums and social activities.
