St Joseph’s College has developed a unique and exciting blend of performance sport and activity camp. SJC Camps will integrate professional coaching with engaging outdoor education activities to deliver a rich, captivating experience.
We had hoped to launch these camps in Summer 2020 and we have been working closely with governing bodies to facilitate this. However, with current restrictions in place, we are now aiming to launch this programme in October.
SJC camps are open to current families of St Joseph’s College and the wider community. The camps will take place on our 60 acre campus in the centre of Ipswich.
Our Performance Sports camps will be led by the professional coaching team of St Joseph’s College, to deliver fun, engaging and educational sessions. We understand the needs of children who simply enjoy being active, as well as those children focused on following a career in sport. Each camp caters for mixed ability and will be grouped by age to ensure children feel comfortable in their surroundings. Sports offered include:
Led by former Harlequins academy player and Head of Rugby Mark Grigg, children will learn what is to train and play the #Teamstjos way.
Head of Football Darren Eadie (Premier League and England International) will deliver an exciting programme that gives an insight into what it takes to play and train like a professional.
Elliott Tyler, Head of Cricket, will lead students through the technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game. Mr Tyler is supported by former Kent CCC professional cricketer Matt Hunn.
Former British No.1 and Olympic Tennis Coach, Nino Severino is Head of Tennis at St Joseph’s College. Nino has designed an exciting, fun and dynamic Tennis Camp that will include movement skills, technique coaching, hand-eye coordination and fun and fitness games.
Each afternoon, participants will enjoy a range of exciting, dynamic experiences. These include Archery and Air Rifles: with careful instruction students will be able to develop their shooting accuracy and technique. Quad bikes - children can learn the basic controls to pass the quad driving test and then progress to time trials. In Bushcraft we will help develop survival skills to build shelters, light fires and hone the instincts needed to survive in the wild. We will be offering Group Games, such as the Adventure Race and Trust Trail, which will improve teamwork skills. We will offer additional sports such as Golf, Basketball and Volleyball. There will be Arts and Crafts activities and an Orienteering challenge.
We plan to open the booking platform for October Camps in August 2020 - please check back with us soon.
