I have worn our school crest on my chest since Year 5 and carried around the words “Fides, Labore et Tenacitate”. Faith, work and tenacity, words that now, after eight years, hold such meaning to myself and ones that I hope to have displayed throughout my life here. Without these I would have never learnt the value of prayer, reaped the rewards of hard work and felt the sense of achievement that comes from never giving up, even when the task seemed impossible, tenacity.
From a very early age I was urged to “be my best”. It was the belief others had in me which allowed me to want to be the best version of myself possible. And in return for their willingness, hard work and patience, I have always given my utmost best to all aspects of the College.
Without giving our best to all we set out to do, we are only ever cheating ourselves. If you don’t believe you can achieve greatness, why should anyone else? It is our duty as people on this earth, pupils of this College to give back in service for what we ourselves have received. St Joseph’s gave me the strength, courage and will to be the person I wanted to become.
