We are incredibly proud of our students who have engaged very well with the home learning we are providing. Our teaching staff have been hugely creative in endeavouring to make sessions as stimulating as possible. Certainly, this has been a learning journey and challenge, but one which our students and staff have responded to superbly. As a College, we are determined that we will live up to our ethos of ‘being our best’: our students will continue to be taught, stimulated and challenged by every means we have available.
Our teaching hub is Google Classroom, which is proving an excellent tool. We have been moving into the full suite of functionality of the platform, including Google Meet, which takes students to a virtual meeting place. This is particularly useful for ‘binding’ a lesson; delivering an exposition at the start of a lesson and explaining the task situated on the Google Classroom, then rounding up with a plenary/question and answer session at the end of it. Staff can also narrate over a presentation and model an activity real-time on the teacher’s screen. Not all lessons will be delivered in this way; our students will receive their lessons through a variety of online teaching methods.
Our Prep School pupils are also enjoying a full and engaging programme of home learning, which is delivered by Google Classroom and through Tapestry for EYFS pupils. A variety of tasks are set each day across the curriculum with regular breaks and lunchtime as normal.
For international students who cannot access Google Classroom, we have been sending these students work via direct email and WeChat and our international liaison team is personally in touch with allto ensure they too can enjoy a full programme of learning.
We will continue to review all aspects of our delivery, looking to make improvements and find innovative ways to inspire all our learners.
