Hothousing at St Joseph's College |
Emily Baker of St Joseph’s College, Ipswich together with two students from Stoke High School have been invited to talk about the hothousing experiences that have taken place this year at the BT AGM in Newcastle on the 19th of July 2007.
BT is also setting up a global hothouse challenge to develop technologies to aid the use of High tech communications equipment in third world countries.
To this end a mini hothouse is being hosted and taking place at St. Joseph’s College on Thursday 5th July to make a portable generator for the charging of laptops, satellite ‘phones and LAN networking transmitters together with a home made LAN infrared transmission aerial for use where there is no reliable electricity supply. This generator could have incredible impact in third world countries with limited power and during rescue operations during natural disasters such as the devastating tsunami of 2005.
Attending the hothouse will be Tony Houghton from BT, four Emily Baker, Rebecca Rowles, Adam Daly and Alex Raoufi from St Joseph’s College and Stoke High School teacher Jonathan Miller with four students.
