Quiz Evening

Over 60 parents, pupils, staff and friends took part in the Annual PTA Quiz Night held in the St Joseph’s Refectories.

The start was delayed slightly as the question master, in the form of Mr Patterson was finishing off the MCC cricket match!. This enabled the quizzers a chance to think up team names, some would say this was the most difficult part of the evening!

Rounds included: Music, Two - Picture Rounds, General Knowledge, Food and Drink, Sport, Films and a marathon round in which you had to place the squares on a Monopoly board in the correct order and in the correct colour. Although the jokers were supposed to help boost your score, for some, this didn’t prove as profitable as others!

Half way through the evening, we were treated to a most delicious supper of cottage pie (meat or vegetarian) and roasted vegetables. Mr McGinn’s ears must have been burning from the compliments! The ‘Captain’s Crew’ team which included Messers Davey, Branch and Richards along with Master Patterson Jr - were in the lead just before the final round. But sadly their knowledge of games doesn’t include board games - especially Monopoly and their poor score allowed the ‘Undecideds’ including Mrs Grant, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Simmonds, to fly home as the winners. Their score of 37/40 on the Monopoly round, revealed what their spare time is spent doing!

Thanks go to everyone who attended, especially Mr Patterson for the excellent questions he set and acting as question master, Mr Reavill for his score keeping, Mr McGinn for the wonderful food, City & Trust Finance for once again providing us with wonderful winners prizes, Mrs Grover for the booby prizes and the PTA, especially Mrs Tarbard and Mrs Bradford for their help during the evening.
