Exercise Pegasus

This is a military based camp which develops the cadets' field craft and tactics. The cadets live as a Military unit and are divided into Sections with a Section Commander and a 2nd in command. The Section set up a harbour area in the forest and erect bashers (a plastic sheet held up by bungees) to sleep under for the next three nights.

The camp really tests the students' leadership skills as the Senior cadets lead military activities and have to ensure the safety of their Section and ensure that all the cadets are fully aware of what they are doing and why. The cadets co-ordinate an ambush at dusk and also lead section attacks to locate and take out the enemy.

The cadets fire blank ammunition and they realise the importance of working as part of a team and communicating with each other. As they live as a military unit there are no home comforts; the cadets cook and eat their meals from ration packs and they do not have access to washing facilities for the four days- it is amazing what you can with a baby wipe! This year as a result of their excellent leadership, the following cadets gained promotion: Polly Debenham, Oyoni Gbla, Andrew Goodbourn and Andreas Mina were promoted to Lance Corporal and Ben Hockley to Corporal.
