First Form - Third Form
Senior School First Form to Third Form
The transition from Primary to Senior School is managed effectively and sensitively at St Joseph’s by an experienced Key Stage 3 Pastoral Team and in close liaison with all feeder schools. The Key Stage 3 curriculum offers breadth and balance, ensuring that all students are given all the necessary building blocks for GCSE. Key learning skills are also taught to ensure that pupils in Years 7 to 9 are able to study and achieve independently, with Learning Support provided as appropriate. Many trips, visits and extra-curricular activities are offered to develop our students' self-esteem and confidence as they start to prepare for Key Stage 4. In Year 9, a comprehensive GCSE Options programme is in place to support both students and parents as they make important choices for GCSE and beyond. Each student’s progress and achievement are closely monitored through the Key Stage Management Team, six weekly reports home and their subject teachers.
