Prep School Sports

Sport plays an important part in the rounded education, offering challenges and leadership opportunities to all our pupils. The Prep school has a fully equipped sports hall, dance studio and acres of sports pitches. From Nursery to Junior 4, each pupil is taught by specialist sports teachers and each child is encouraged to develop their skills in both team and individual games.

Children are expected to participate and to ‘be their best’ at the highest level they can attain – be it representing their house, school, club, county, region or country. Beyond the major team sports, pupils participate in a wide range of individual sports. All boys and girls who have been through the school will have the opportunity of playing sport for St Joseph’s College with commitment and a sense of fair play. In the Prep school, girls are taught netball, hockey and rounders. Boys are taught rugby, football and cricket. All juniors take part in table-tennis and badminton, gymnastics and dance, cross country running, orienteering and athletics.
